1.                  A calorimeter which is 20% efficient had 100 g of water go from 20 °C to 60 °C.  In doing so, a peanut lost 2 g of biomass.  Two grams of peanut represents 0.01 of a mole of the biomass.  What is the theoretical heat of reaction for the peanut?

 

2.                  In March 1997 off Canada’s west coast, 5 teams of biologists each caught and tagged 4000 salmon for a total of 20,000 tagged salmon. They then released the fish in the Juan de Fuca Strait.  After 2 months had gone by, the 5 teams went back to the same spots and each recaptured 1000 salmon.  The results are shown in
